SER Region Programs

The Southeastern Region has many programs that benefit our members of the NMRA and modelers within our borders. We hope that you will get involved in the region activities.

Boy Scout Program

  • Running a Railroading Merit Badge (RRMB) Program is a great way to introduce railroading, railroad safety, and model railroading to young men.  The Southeastern Region is working with our divisions to present this program to local scout troops.  You will find information here on how to support this program in your local area.

  • An overview of the Boy Scout Railroading Merit Badge Program including an introduction to scouting, the merit badge program and the Railroading Merit Badge requirements.

This material was part of a discussion on the Regions & Divisions Yahoo Group. Larry Burkholder provided this information created by Bill Kaufman.

  • The SER Region Contests are held at our annual convention.  The contests include models, photography and arts & crafts based on the NMRA National Contests program.  The SER has several special contest awards which are presented annually at the convention.

See the SER Contest Guidelines for details on contest entries and awards.

  • About SER Service Awards

The SER recognizes the impact volunteers make on the quality of your NMRA membership.  Volunteers organize and run division meetings, auctions, train shows, and swap meets.  They give clinics, serve as Boy Scout merit badge counselors, host operating sessions, and open their homes and layouts to visitors.  They serve as mentors to other model railroaders, always willing to share their knowledge and techniques to make us better modelers.  The SER honors its top volunteers with two awards:
