The SER recognizes the impact volunteers make on the quality of your NMRA membership. Volunteers organize and run division meetings, auctions, train shows, and swap meets. They give clinics, host operating sessions, and open their homes and layouts to visitors. They serve as mentors to other model railroaders, always willing to share their knowledge and techniques to make us better modelers. The SER honors its top volunteers with two awards:
The Dave Muller Award is given for service at the division level. Individuals are nominated based upon their activity level within their division. When the nominations are made, the name or names are distributed to the members of the committee and the qualifications are discussed and a vote taken. Nominations can be made by any SER member.

The Vern Yarbrough Award is given for service at the region level. Individuals are nominated based upon the their activity level within the SER. When the nominations are made, the name or names are distributed to the members of the committee and the qualifications are discussed and a vote taken. This award may not be given on an annual basis. Nominations are by the Honors and Awards committee.
